See for yourself all that Colombia and its people have to offer. You will travel from north to south in this adventure trip. Visit Bogotá, the vibrant capital of the Latin American country, before admiring the nature wonders of Tatacoa desert and travelling back in time to discover the Andean heritage of Colombia in San Agustín and Popayán. Then go north to explore the wax palms in Valle del Cocora, the Coffee Region and the breathtaking Tayrona National Park and Cartagena.
Suggested itinerary
Day one: Welcome to Colombia
Upon arrival at El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, your driver will take you to the hotel where our local representative will meetyou upon arrival for an orientation meeting. Get settled at your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day on your own.
Day two: Feel the Rhythm of Bogotá - Biking City Tour
After breakfast, enjoy a half day bike tour of the city with your local guide. You will stop at all the most important monuments like La Candelaria, Bogota’s historic center, continue visiting a traditional fruit market, where we taste tropical fruits, followed by a typical small-scale coffee roaster. In the afternoon, you could visit Salt Cathedral in Zipaquira (a guided tour is highly recommended).

Day three: The magnificent Tatacoa desert
Late morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Neiva. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel in Villavieja (1 hr). After check-in, head straight out to Tatacoa desert, one of Colombia’s most attractive natural landscapes. It covers an area of 330 km² of grey and ochre soil interrupted by the green of the cacti.
Day four: Hike in San Agustín Archaeological Park
Transfer to San Agustin. Visit San Agustin Archaeological Park, declared by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, where gods and mythical animals are skillfully represented in styles ranging from abstract to realist. Later go hiking to El Tablón, La Chaquira y La Pelota, where you can see samples of Augustinian statuary.
Day five: The Andean Heritage of Colombia
Today you will visit the Archeological Park Alto de los Idolos, the second most important archaeological site in the area. Is a rich archaeological landscape, with evidence of ancient tracks, field boundaries, drainage ditches and artificial platforms, as well as funerary monuments. Visit later the strait of the Magdalena River, the most important river in Colombia which crosses the country from south to north.
Day six: Discovering the Treasures of Tierradentro
This morning transfer to Tierradentro, a place few visitors make it to but has some of the most awe-inspiring archaeological wonders. This site is remarkable for its elaborate underground tombs in which a 100 of these unusual funeral temples, the only examples of their kind in the Americas. A fabulous walk to take in all the major site amid beautiful mountain scenery.
Day seven: Popayán the Colonial Jewel of Colombia
This morning transfer to Popayán, nicknamed the White City. This beautifully preserved is a great place to relax, and enjoy the city’s colonial architecture. The historical center of Popayan has retained its colonial character that same since its construction approximately four centuries ago.
Day eight: Silvia Market Coffee Region
After breakfast, travel to Silvia, a picturesque Andean town which is where the famous weekly market of the indigenous, Guámbianos, that are considered the most traditional indigenous group in Colombia. After the visit to the fascinating market and lunch, private transfer to Colombia’s Coffee Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day nine: Colombia’s Pride: the Wax Palms in Valle del Cocora
After breakfast, private transfer to Salento where we hop on an immaculate old Willy’s jeep and wind our way through super-scenic Valle del Cocora, a valley that is famous for its supply of the national tree, the wax palm. Continue then to Salento to see the coffee production where you could taste the product. After lunch visit, return to Armenia for a free afternoon, en route optional stop at an avocado plantation, enjoy the tasting of several varieties of this fruit.
Day ten: Fly toTayrona National Park.
Breakfast at your hotel and check out. This morning, a private transfer to the Armenia airport for your flight to Santa Marta. Upon arrival, private transfer to your hotel near Tayrona National Park.
Day eleven: Enjoy a Day in the Caribbean Beaches
Today is an easy excursion into Tayrona National Nature Park to see some of the parks gorgeous beaches which are backed by mountains and shaded by coconut palms. Visit Arrecifes, La Piscina, another small village where you could swim in the natural pools and coral reefs, perfect for snorkeling. Continue your hike to La Cabo, this famous picturesque beach is one of the most recognizable in the park.
Day twelve: Guided Visit of Cartagena
Upon arrival to Cartagena you will start a private guided visit of Cartagena, Colombia’s walled city. Visit the city’s plazas, galleries, churches and vaulted walkways where crafts and antiquities are sold. Visit the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and explore Cerro de la Popa, where you will find a church and colonial convent constructed in the 17th Century.
Day thirteen: Explore Cartagena
